Bamboo palm

A bamboo palm is a member of the genus Chamaedorea of plants.  The genus holds between one and two hundred member species in it. They are small, ranging in size from about one foot tall, up to some species that reach as high as eighteen feet. In the wild, they are part of the understory of tropical rainforests, where they rise above the lowest plants, such as ferns and fungi.
A bamboo palm is often used as a domesticated houseplant. Their small size makes them an ideal piece of greenery for an entryway or back porch. They exhibit the many stalks typical of a bamboo plant, but their foliage is comprised of undeniably palm-shaped pinnate leaves. This mix of tropical and exotic makes them a very popular buy.

Another reason for the popularity of the bamboo palm is that it is a remarkably hearty palm. Some species do not do well if the climate is too dry, or too cool, but the Chamaedorea genus thrive indoors, where air conditioning keeps the summer temperatures down, and also typically creates a drier indoor climate than what one can expect to find outdoors.
