Landscaping shrubs

Landscaping shrubs are a big part of most green yard designs. Shrubs occupy a grey area between plants and trees. They are larger than most plants, and they have woody stems. However, they are smaller than most trees. The biggest distinction between a tree and a bush is that bushes normally feature several co-dominant leads, whereas a tree’s normal growth pattern features 1 dominant trunk with smaller branches growing from it.

Landscaping shrubs normally fill the gaps between trees in a landscape designer’s plan. Most homeowners do not know this, but a landscaper putting in a brand new landscape plans for about half of the trees and bushes to be removed in the first decade of use. This means that your yard is normally over-planted as designed.

The use of landscaping shrubs is prevalent as space filler. Shrubs can be placed in front of a house along the foundation to cover the cement. They are usually placed far enough apart that they will have room to grow. However, as your shrubs age, they will eventually run together. At that point you can either remove ever other shrub to again free up growing space, or manage your new hedge as a singular whole instead.
